Geography:
Dearborn County is bordered by Ohio County on the south, Ripley County on the west, Franklin County on the north, and Hamilton County, OH on the east. A small portion of the county also borders the Ohio River.

History:
Dearborn County was named in 1803 after General Henry Dearborn, secretary of war under President Thomas Jefferson. The early history of the county is described in great detail in the following books:
