In 1841, Jeff Washington died due to a skull fracture after “Little Mat” (known only by this nickname and his relationship to his uncle, Israel Moody) threw a brick at him. Jeff’s exact death date is unknown, as the only article found so far was a retrospective published on December 10, 1896.
