On December 30, 1929, James Anderson shot Benjamin Shaw at “Spike’s” bootleg camp. James also shot Sheriff Herman Lange the following day during a pursuit. Both victims later died while hospitalized for their injuries – Herman on January 1, 1930 and Benjamin on January 2, 1930.
