On December 8, 1932, William Barrett and his friends Steve Burns, Garret Couch, and Pearl Baker approached the home of Arch Abner in search of liquor. Arch drove them away with a shotgun, wounding William in the process. William died December 12, 1932 due to gangrene resulting from his gunshot wound.
